Synopsis

Dreadie, a promising and fiery young actor, has plans to stage plays, film, tour Africa and raise the profile of his community. His fortunes are improving, he is mixing with the elite. But his joke that an armed raid on a high society party, where his presence has already raised eyebrows, was probably the work of the police, unleashes prejudice against him. Dreadie must have been in on the raid. He is the only person sought for the crime. Harsh jail time follows but Dreadie reads books of wisdom and grows stronger. On release from prison his locks quickly grow back and, returning to the hills, Dreadie takes a different direction to earn his money. But his activities don’t go unnoticed. Losers are made not born and the house odds are stacked against him.
