Biography

Born in Edinburgh to a Scottish mother and Nigerian father, Jackie Kay is an award winning poet, novelist and playwright. Adopted by a white couple at birth and brought up in Glasgow, Kay went on to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and Stirling University where she read English. Her plays include: Chiaroscuro (Theatre of Black Women), Twice Over (Drill Hall), Twilight Shift (Tron Theatre), Twice Through the Heart (Snape Maltings Concert Hall), Take Away (Half Moon Theatre), Itsy Bitsy Spider (Southbank Centre) and Manchester Lines (Library Theatre, Sheffield).
