Elayne Ogbeta
Biography
Elayne Ogbeta grew up in Preston, Lancashire and is a former teacher/tutor. In 2011, whilst working as an ESOL tutor at Salford City College, she self published her first original Anansi story, a children’s picture book entitled Anansi and the Dutchy Pot. In 2022 she adapted her book for the stage, as Grandad Anansi, for Half Moon Theatre Company, which toured nationally. The character of ‘Grandad’ is partly based on her own father who moved from Jamaica to England in the 1960s as part of the Windrush generation.
