Biography
Jackie Kay born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1961 to a Scottish mother and Nigerian father is an award winning poet, novelist and playwright. Adopted by a white couple at birth and brought up in Glasgow, Kay went on to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and Stirling University where she read English. Her first play, Chiaroscuro, was commissioned by the Theatre of Black Women in 1985 and was performed by the Theatre of Black Women at London's Soho Polytechnic in 1986. Her second play, Twice Over has been produced in Sheffield, Bradford, Bristol, and San Francisco.
