A drama graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University, Zawe joined the National Youth Theatre after professionally acting in television from a very young age. Harm's Way was her first play to be produced. She undertook her second play as part of the Royal Court Invited Writers group, following on from her role as Young Writer in Residence at the Contact Theatre in 2006.
