The Poets and Players were a group of actors, dancers, writers and musicians who came together in 1979. Using a core group of seven members the company used dance, drama, poetry and music to reflect the inner lives of black people living in Britain and their their relationship with Africa and the Caribbean. The Poets and Players performed widely in Britain to mixed audiences.
