Tracey Daley, Jo Martin and Josephine Melville set up Aarawak Moon Productions in 1997. Frustrated by the lack of opportunities for Black women in theatre to take control of their own work, the company was developed to embrace a variety of interests. Up until writing Shoot 2 Win, Aarawak Moon had focused their attention on producing improvised Black comedy events (Blaggers), Black variety nights (The Lunar Lounge) and education and community workshops. Aarawak Moon has achieved widespread recognition with Black artists and audiences, working mostly commercially, with occasional project grants.
